Room To Breathe

Everyday resilience for emotionally demanding work
A gentle, restorative session focused on recognising early signs of burnout, learning micro-recovery practices, and building rhythms of rest and regulation into the day.

Space to Be is about creating safer spaces

This work isn’t just about helping individuals feel better.

It’s about creating the conditions where people, especially Black women and other Global Majority staff, don’t have to shrink, mask, or over-function to survive.
We support organisations to build safety from the inside out through nervous system awareness, relational leadership, and an active commitment to equity.

How We Work

Our work is rooted in somatic coaching, nervous system regulation, and generative thinking practices.

Each session offers space to pause, reconnect, and build tools for emotional steadiness and self-awareness — individually and collectively.

We blend science and softness to create workshops that are:

  1. Trauma-informed

  2. Embodied and experiential

  3. Inclusive, practical, and jargon-free

  4. Designed for people who care deeply and do difficult work

This is a space for restoring balance, building capacity, and learning how to stay with yourself, even when things get hard.

The foundations of Space to Be

This work is guided by four quiet but powerful principles.
They shape the way we hold space, the way we work with the body, and the way we support others to lead and live with more ease.

  • We believe in the importance of slowing down.
In a world that constantly asks us to push, produce, and perform, we offer space to pause. Stillness allows the nervous system to settle. Quiet gives us a chance to hear what we often miss: our breath, our feelings, our own voice. We don’t rush to fill silence. We trust it.

  • We don’t force insight or pressure outcomes.
Our approach is rooted in the idea that when there’s enough space, what needs to emerge will. Clarity doesn’t always arrive on demand. We give people time and room to notice, to reflect, and to let new awareness unfold naturally.

  • We don’t ask people to leave parts of themselves at the door.
There’s no performance required here. We believe that growth happens when people feel safe to be fully themselves — with all the edges, emotions, and contradictions that come with being human. You don’t need to become someone else. You just need space to be more of who you already are.

  • We don’t tell people what to do.
We help them learn how to listen to themselves again. We work with the body because the body often knows what the mind tries to override. This work supports people to build trust in their own signals, their own insight, and their own timing — not someone else’s version of what’s right.

These principles sit at the heart of everything we offer.
They’re not a method or a model, they’re a way of being with ourselves and with others.
A reminder that transformation doesn’t need to be loud to be life-changing.

Who It’s For

Our work is ideal for organisations that want to support:

  • Staff in high-stress, high-emotion environments

  • Managers navigating complex conversations or emotional labour

  • Leaders looking to sustain their impact without sacrificing wellbeing

We work across sectors, including non-profits, care-based services, social justice spaces, and progressive workplaces that value emotional intelligence and deep support.

Delivery & Collaboration

Our sessions are delivered by experienced somatic practitioners and facilitators trained in body-oriented coaching, hypnotherapy, and reflective practice.

We tailor each experience to the needs of your organisation, with options to:

  • Run single workshops or create a series

  • Offer one-to-one follow-up sessions

  • Include thinking partnerships or reflective spaces

We’re also open to longer-term partnerships, retreats, or co-designing bespoke wellbeing programmes.

About the Founder

Space to Be was founded by Nicola Crooks-Ramgeet, a somatic coach, clinical hypnotherapist, and accredited Thinking Partner with a background in leadership and mathematics.

As a Black woman working across coaching, education and corporate spaces, Nicola saw how often people, especially Black women and those in emotionally demanding roles, were holding everything together while feeling completely disconnected from their own needs. She created this space as a response to that: a quiet alternative to environments that reward over-functioning and overthinking.

Nicola trained at The Somatic School, and her approach draws on Focusing, Constellations, Hakomi principles, and nervous system-led coaching. Her work is body-led, values-driven, and grounded in the belief that we all deserve space to feel, reflect, and reconnect — not just in theory, but in practice.

Through Space to Be, she offers something simple but powerful: space to return to yourself, and tools to help others do the same.
